The company is spending Rs 300 crores globally for the new makeover, which is expected next week and will be splashed all across India, Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Seychelles, including the 15 African units it acquired from Kuwait-based Zain Group in June 2010.

According to the sources close to development, in the new logo the font style of Airtel may change with a swoosh locked with the word ‘Airtel’, it is not expected to have a capital ‘A’ under the new brand. However, the red color will be prominent in the new makeover, which is to bring a youthful look to vibrant and global company.

The Bharti Airtel also plans change the design of its recharge vouchers and publicity materials. The Airtel’s re-branding is done by the agency J Walter Thompson. The change in the brand follows the acquisition of Zain’s operations in Africa by India’s Bharti Airtel (BA) in June this year in a $10.7 billion deal.

Mr David Case, the chief executive officer of Moringa Ogilvy part of Ogilvy Africa which will champion the Airtel brand on the continent said, “The re-branding is aimed at “revolutionising” the telecommunications industry in Uganda.”

Bharti’s Anglophone Africa Chief Executive, Jayant Khosla said, “The brand launch will not be simply about advertising but about delivering customer delight, delivering a customer experience in which our customers become our brand ambassadors.”

According to reports, Mobile operator Zain Uganda will adopt Bharti Airtel as its new face of business on November 23, 2010. Sources said that when the company fully takes charge of Zain, the network coverage it will provide will be superior to any that exists in the country.
