Intex to Launch Cheapest Android Phone in India @ Just Rs. 5,500

Intex Mobiles, the one which offer featured packed phones at reasonable cost, have come up with another full featured phone at just Rs. 5,500. The company plans to launch an Android-based Smartphone at an affordable cost in the first week of February 2011. It’s going to be India’s cheapest Android Phone till date!!

Speaking about the phone, Sudhir Kumar, Assistant General Manager of the Telecom Division at Intex said, “We will launch an Android 2.2 phone in the first week of February and it will priced at around Rs 5,500.”

Mr. Kumar also revealed that the company plans to launch four more models in the range. According to him, the new models will support Office applications, which will supposedly be a major boon to professionals. He went on to say “People who want to watch movies, videos, picture galleries and even read e books on their mobile phones will also find some interesting applications in the new model.”

Intex’s proposed Android mobile phone will compete with Micromax A60 in India in terms of cost and features as it will leave behind Micromax Andro in price. As per the reports, the phone will feature 3.2 Megapixel camera, a 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen, Wi-Fi and GPS. There is no word on which processor it will be running on.

The Intel Android Phone is expected to run smoother and richer in features than the Eclair OS which most of the entry level Android phones are getting stuck with.
