New Delhi: After the mega event of Common Wealth Games successfully came to an end, the focus of Government has been shift on the corruption associated with the games. Charges of corruption and mismanagement of funds against the Organizing Committee had shocked the nation, before the gems began.

Speaking about the matter, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna today expressed confidence that the government would probe allegations of corruption.

When asked whether he felt that there should be a probe into allegations of corruption as they had marred India’s image, he reassuringly said, “Success of Games is one side of the story but natural corollary will be followed. Government has already said this and Government will follow it up.”

At the same time, he said the success of Games had answered those who raised questions over India’s capacity to hold such mega events.

“The Games have been a huge success…. I said it earlier also that India has inherent resilience which saw it through,” the External Affairs Minister said.

With the Games coming to an end, the opposition party highlights the issue and said it will pursue the alleged delay and corruption in Games preparations.

Speaking to the press, Bhartiya Janata Party(BJP) spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said, “Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh had said that probe will happen after the Games are over. We are giving them a couple of days to see what action they take. If not, BJP has also made plans.”

To this, the National spokesperson Manish Tiwari said, “We are not into giving clean or unclean chit to anyone. If at all, public fund has been misused the guilty should be brought to books.”

Other than the Organising Committee headed by Suresh Kalmadi, the Sheila Dikshit government in Delhi, the Union Urban Development Ministry and various government organisations were involved in the Games’ projects.
